Signature witnessing is the formal process of having an independent, qualified witness observe the signing of an important legal document and verify that the signer did so willingly and is who they claim to be.
Many legal documents — including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and real estate deeds — require one or more witnesses in addition to notarization. A licensed notary public can serve as both a witness and the notary in many cases, streamlining the process.
We provide professional signature witnessing services throughout NYC, ensuring your documents are executed properly and hold up to legal scrutiny.
We handle a wide range of document types. Below are some of the most common requests we receive:
Schedule at your convenience — same-day appointments available seven days a week.
We'll confirm exactly what to bring. Valid government-issued photo ID is required for all notarizations.
Identity verified, signatures witnessed, and all legal requirements confirmed — confidentially.
Walk away with properly notarized documents. Digital copies available upon request.
A witness observes the signing and confirms the signer's identity and willingness. A notary adds an official certification — stamped and sealed — that carries legal authority beyond a regular witness. Many documents require both. A notary public can serve both roles in one appointment.
New York does not require wills to be notarized to be valid. However, a will can be made 'self-proving' with a notarized affidavit from the witnesses, which simplifies the probate process. Wills do require two witnesses. We can serve as a witness and/or notarize the self-proving affidavit.
Under New York law, a power of attorney requires two witnesses in addition to notarization for the principal's signature. We can provide witnessing services to ensure your POA meets all requirements.
